Here is a selection of my black and white photos that have been awarded publication in Shots Magazine, a quarterly journal of black and white photography:
Issue 165: Self Portrait, Winter 2024
Issue 164: Time Travel, Fall 2024
Elizabeth Flinsch, the editor of Shots Magazine, found herself lost in the meaning of time as she sifted through countless submissions on time travel. As she immersed herself in the images, the hours slipped away, leaving her disconnected from the present moment. She mused how we often escape the discomfort of now, whether through daydreams or distractions on her "pocket portal." Flinsch reflected on the nature of time travel as an inherent part of our minds—every photograph being a portal to a bygone moment. Finally, she resolved to resist the lure of time travel, choosing instead to embrace the present and its challenges, finding peace in the here and now.
The call for work invited us to imagine time travel, whether leaping into a future of hope or despair or a past of reflected or rewritten moments. I chose a past of glorious moments with a subconscious yearning to step just for a moment into someone else's life.
